No-Bake Walnut Jam Balls (Easy Guest-Ready Zserbó-Style Dessert)
If you love classic Central European desserts but don’t feel like baking, these no-bake Zserbó-style walnut jam balls are about to become a new favorite. Inspired by the traditional flavors of Zserbó cake — walnuts, jam, and chocolate — this dessert transforms everything you love about the original into a simple, bite-sized treat that requires absolutely no oven time.
Total Time 26 minutes mins
- 5 dkg biscuit crumbs
- 10 dkg ground walnuts
- 17 dkg peach jam
- 20 dkg dark chocolate 60%
- 3 dkg ground walnuts for decoration
- 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
The process is straightforward and beginner-friendly.
First, the biscuit crumbs and ground walnuts are combined in a bowl. Jam is then added gradually, just enough to bring the mixture together into a soft, moldable consistency. Once the texture is right, the mixture is shaped into walnut-sized balls and placed onto a tray lined with parchment paper.
The shaped balls are chilled until firm, which helps them keep their shape during coating. While they rest, most of the dark chocolate is gently melted with a small amount of oil over steam. Once melted, the remaining chocolate is stirred in off the heat, allowing it to melt slowly and create a smooth, glossy coating.
Each chilled ball is then placed on a fork and carefully coated with the melted chocolate. Excess chocolate is allowed to drip off before placing the balls back onto the tray. A final sprinkle of ground walnuts adds both texture and a decorative finish.
After a short rest in a cool place, the chocolate sets — and the dessert is ready to serve.
